In April 2025, our family took a deep breath, signed a very big stack of papers, and officially became the new owners of The Regatta on Grand. The luxury RV resort was distressed and in foreclosure, but we could see the potential underneath: a special peninsula on Grand Lake that deserved to feel loved again. One year later, as we celebrate our first anniversary and launch The Regatta Log, we wanted to tell you a bit of that story—and invite you to come see this new chapter for yourself.
What we walked into at The Regatta (and why we stayed)
When we arrived, The Regatta wasn’t picture‑perfect. A lot had been deferred—on the shoreline, around the grounds, and behind the scenes—and it showed. There were dumpsters of debris to haul off, repairs to make, and spaces that needed more than a quick freshen‑up.
But there was something else here too: a strong management team, including our daughter Caitlyn as resort manager, already pouring her heart into guests and daily operations. That team is the reason we felt confident investing in a distressed property from a few hours away in Austin, TX, knowing there were trusted hands on the ground in Grove.
A year of quiet transformation at our boutique RV resort
Over the past year, the changes have been steady and sometimes unglamorous—but they’ve added up. The shoreline has been cleared and cared for, landscaping and hardscaping refreshed, and worn‑out areas repaired so the peninsula feels more polished the moment you roll in. RV sites now have more usable outdoor living spaces, with improved furnishings, grills, and fire pits that make it easier to actually sit, cook, talk, and watch the sunrise over Grand Lake.
We’ve focused on keeping the resort calm and adult‑oriented—welcoming to everyone, but especially to couples and small groups who want an easygoing, quieter stay at a luxury RV resort in Oklahoma. Think mornings with coffee on the patio, lake days at your own pace, and evenings that wind down when you’re ready, not when the music does.
Drift, BOOM, and a little margarita delivery for resort guests
The restaurants have had their own fresh start but remain in the capable hands of General Manager Austin Bailey. The Regatta Restaurant has been reborn as Drift on Grand—a completely new concept with a new name, branding, and menu. Drift now offers a remodeled bar, patio seating, weekend brunch, and a thoughtful list of high‑end spirits and cocktails, all designed for unhurried, chef‑inspired meals. Upstairs, BOOM keeps things casual and fun, with burgers, pizza, and game‑day energy when you’re in the mood for something laid‑back.
For resort guests, we’ve leaned into simple comforts: daily margarita delivery is still very much alive, and each site now has a welcome folder with take‑out menus and to‑go cocktail options. Some nights are “get dressed and go to BOOM” nights; other nights are “pajamas, a good movie, and pasta on the patio” nights—and we love that both feel right at home here at our luxury RV resort on Grand Lake.

The Regatta Log is our way of opening the gates a little wider. We’ll share stories from the resort, updates on what’s changing, and practical trip ideas for Grand Lake—so by the time you arrive, it feels less like checking into a place you found online and more like returning to a spot you already know. You’ll hear Amy’s voice from Lake Travis in Austin, looking at the resort through an RVer and owner lens, and Caitlyn’s voice from Grove, where she’s walking the property, talking with guests, and watching each season unfold.
